This internal communications extranet supported UPC Broadband (Liberty Global) in engaging their internal staff with a new brand vision and identity. The concept of the extranet revolves around the new UPC vision: “We believe that this amazing, but often complex digital world should be for everyone. And to make this vision a reality we’ll work to bring simplicity and a real human touch to everything we do.”
The program featured a sequential roll-out of chapters. Successive visits to new chapters were triggered by specific off-line materials such as posters/post-it notes/ free-standing cutouts. The program featured a clear narrative that built up a deep understanding of why a new vision and change in thinking is needed. It used a rich mix of multimedia elements to engage all staff independent of their status in the company or their personal preference in media consumption. There is something for everyone - elements to read, hear, and watch. For example, the first three chapters all contain the same core message be it in text, animation or reflected in a special poll feature. In Chapter 5 a mix of local and international success stories are showcased. Chapter 6 features a playful quiz host in video taking staff through main themes of the new brand. The last chapter introduces the new brand identity and ultimately introduces a vision song. The extranet was IP white-listed for all staff to freely enter from their work stations. The CMS behind the extranet is easily translated and updated by local staff.
